Standing Rules
Sun Lakes Ladies golf Association
Definition: A standing rule is a rule that is made at a specific time and is to be in effect until amended or rescinded. No Standing Rule may conflict with the Bylaws. Standing rules differ from Bylaws in that they may be changed or repealed by the Executive Board.
Eligibility: No member may participate in regular play, tournaments, special events or voting until they have established a handicap outlined in the Bylaws by submitting three (3) attested 18 hole cards played on the Sun Lakes Country Club golf course.
Dues: The amount shall be determined yearly to include SLLGA and AGA dues. Payment is due November 1st and will become delinquent if not received by November 30th. A $5.00 penalty shall be imposed if payment is not made prior to December 1st.
Competition: All competition will be held under the jurisdiction of the SLLGA and in accordance with the rules of the USGA. Local rules deemed necessary by the President and Sun Lakes CC Golf Professional.
Regular Play: Regular golf play shall consist of 18 holes weekly on Tuesdays. The fee required for regular competition will be determined yearly and posted. Fees must be submitted by 12:00 noon on the Saturday preceding the day of play. Anyone wishing to play on Tuesday who has not submitted their fee on time will be allowed to play, space permitting. Players shall check in with the Pro Shop and enter the Birdie Pot if desired prior to tee time.
Two scorecards shall be kept with the original being signed, attested and initialed by each player upon checking her score. The second scorecard shall be used to record birdies.
During the regular season from October through May, Tuesday tee times will be determined by the Pro with the approval of the Executive Board. During the summer season, players can form their own foursomes and morning tee times. If a player does not have a group to sign up with, she will be assigned by the Pro.
Tournaments and Special Events: In line with AWGA rules, only those qualified and participating in the competitive event are permitted in the group. Caddies and/or other guests are not allowed to accompany the player with the exception of the Women's Derby and the Guys and Dolls Tournaments.
President's Cup: The President's Cup will be a 36 hole stroke play tournament based upon a combined low net score over two weeks. Eligibility requires that the member shall have played a minimum of four (4) posted Tuesday League Play Days beginning October 1st to the day of the tournament. The pairings shall be made in flights and the player with the lowest net score over the field shall be the winner. The next low net scorer shall be runner up. Ties will be determined by a score card play off according to the USGA rules.
Club Championship: The Club Championship will be a 36 hole stroke play tournament based on a combined low gross score over two weeks. Eligibility requires that the member shall have played a minimum of four (4) posted Tuesday League Play Days beginning October 1st to the day of the tournament. The Club Champion will be the player with the lowest gross score over the field and the second lowest gross scorer shall be the runner up. There will also be a winner and a runner up in each flight. A tie by the overall Club Champion can be decided by a score card playoff or an 18 hole playoff prior to the next Tuesday. This decision will be made by the individuals who tied.
Match Play: Match Play will be an 18 hole match tournament based on the best net score of a 2 player team on each hole. Players may choose their own partners or have one assigned by the Pro or Tournament Chairman. The handicap differential shall be no more than ten (10) points. When a player's ball is out of contention she may pick it up.
A point system per hole is in place as follows: 1 point for winning the hole, 0 points for losing the hole, and 1/2 point for a tie of the hole. Total points will equal 18.
Home and Home: These are tournaments that are Special Events when an equal number of participants from another club playing at each other's courses on specific days. The dates and fees will be posted with the number of players needed. You must be able to play both dates. Players may sign up as alternates.
Traveling Team: The SLLGA may establish a team to represent our club in Team Play. The team shall consist of players who have established eligibility, and be determined by the Captain in compliance with how other clubs choose their teams. The Captain shall check the computer for indexes prior to each competition.
Other Rules:
Every member is responsible for posting every score made, regardless of the day played as per the USGA Handicap Manual. Section 5-1. "Fair handicapping depends upon full and accurate information regarding a player's potential scoring ability as reflected by a complete scoring record."
When a Hole in One is made during league play, the name of the player is added to the Hole-in-one sheet on the Ladies Bulletin board. SLLGA will award a $20.00 chit to the player.
The outgoing officers and/or chairpersons shall meet with the incoming and/or chairpersons in December to facilitate a smooth transition into the new year.
An annual audit of the SLLGA shall be made yearly by a qualified person, and the result posted.
Cards shall be sent to members who are ill or have suffered the loss of a loved one. The Sunshine Chairman will be responsible for selecting and sending cards.
